TRUVADA

Tenofovir/emtricitabine

-Truvada combines two anti-HIV medications, Emtriva^® (emtricitabine 200 mg) and Viread^® (tenofovir disoproxil fumarate 300 mg), into one pill that is taken once a day with or without food.

-TRUVADA blocks the action of a protein that HIV needs to infect the body.

-TRUVADA does not cure HIV or AIDS.

-Safer sex practices include consistent use of condoms, knowing HIV status and the HIV status of partner(s), getting tested for other sexually transmitted infections (like syphilis), and taking action to limit contact with other body fluids are needed to help person limit exposure to the HIV virus.
